Business & ICT Alignment

The global pandemic is forcing the evolution of the ICT space in many small to medium sized organisations (especially within the public sector) with the emergence of increasing numbers and types of utility-based productivity tools and components.

As this market matures, new systems and models will become available. So the strategic decisions organisations may face are likely to enable or constrain their ability to maximise ICT as a strategic enabler.

On the basis of some of our experiences, we believe that as organisations conceive plans, manage and direct the use and development of ICT, the following issues, weaknesses and risks should be addressed:

• Insufficient business ownership

• Poor stakeholder engagement

• Inadequate resource planning

• Focus on outcome performance management

• Unified governance

• Weak architecture, direction, strategy and planning

At Peasum, we recommend that going forward, organisations become intentional about delivering macro improvements (dynamic growth opportunities) not micro improvements (low-level changes) in order to bring about effective and sustainable change.
