Embracing the Characteristics of a Long-Term Service Provider Relationship – Part 1

The role of the service provider to a partner organisation is very critical and so the Organisation must expect and require that the Service Provider embrace these characteristics as the foundation for a long-term relationship:

  1.  An appreciation of the organisation’s business & service requirements and an appetite to deliver them effectively including a flexibility in working within their overall customer & corporate values inherent in its business (including Corporate and Social Responsibility agenda, local training and employment opportunities and the use of SMEs where practical).

  2.  An awareness and understanding of the needs and diversity of the organisation’s customers and the importance of sharing the outlook and values of the business as a whole in delivering services to them.

  3. An appetite for investment in service provision if the scale, scope and length of the contract makes this viable and appropriate opportunities present themselves.
